About Me
My name is Ariel Chen
Growing up in a family closely connected to brand and industry operations, I developed an early understanding that design is not merely about creation, but a system shaped by market dynamics, positioning, and strategy.
With a background in fashion design, I am particularly interested in how luxury brands translate perception, storytelling, and structure into long-term brand value.

Education
2021 – 2022
Bachelor Program in Visual Arts
Department of Visual Arts, University of Taipei, Taipei, Taiwan
Completed foundational training in visual arts, strengthening visual literacy, aesthetic judgment, and conceptual thinking.
Studied visual arts with a focus on fundamental artistic training, visual composition, and conceptual exploration. Coursework emphasized drawing, color theory, art history, and mixed media practices, building a solid foundation in visual literacy and creative expression.
2022 – 2025
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Design
Department of Fashion Design, Shih Chien University, Taipei, Taiwan
Trained in fashion design with a strong emphasis on concept development, garment construction, and creative execution. The curriculum integrates design thinking, textile experimentation, pattern making, and fashion illustration, while encouraging students to explore personal aesthetics alongside brand identity, market awareness, and consumer positioning.
Participated in studio-based projects, interdisciplinary collaborations, and a graduation collection that translated conceptual narratives into wearable forms. The program also incorporated brand development, fashion marketing, and procurement-related coursework, as well as industry-linked internship opportunities, fostering sensitivity to craftsmanship, visual storytelling, and the relationship between fashion, culture, branding, and contemporary markets.

Workshop at Maragoni London
Sustainable Fashion

Attended an intensive fashion design workshop at Istituto Marangoni London, focused on sustainable fashion and constrained design practice.
Within a limited timeframe and strict material restrictions, I developed a wearable garment using only reclaimed clothing, without access to new fabrics or accessories. The project emphasized material logic, structural experimentation, and concept-driven design.
Beyond garment construction, the workshop required professional English presentations and critical discussions with fashion design instructors, simulating the rigor of an international fashion education environment.

Re-examining the environmental impact of garment production, from raw materials to disposal, as the starting point of this project.
Exploring new possibilities within strict constraints: two discarded garments, no newly purchased materials or accessories.
Developing form and proportion through draping and experimentation under material limitations.
Translating sustainability from an abstract concept into a wearable and structural design language.
The final garment balances wearability and narrative, addressing sustainability as a practical design solution.
Graduate Fashion Show Finalist
– Songshan Cultural and Creative Park
Selected as a finalist in the Graduate Fashion Show – Clothing Category at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, one of the most competitive graduation showcases at Shih Chien University.
The selection process consisted of preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds, with more than 120 teams across both daywear and eveningwear divisions, and only around 30 finalists advancing to the final showcase.
Finalists were required to complete a full 7-look collection, demonstrating conceptual development, garment construction, craftsmanship, and cohesive visual presentation.
This experience strengthened my ability to develop and execute a complete fashion collection under intensive evaluation and professional exhibition standards.
